Senegal (two)
2022
graphite, gouache, recycled chipboard
18 x 24 in
These paintings on recycled chipboard were inspired by the vibrant patterns and colors found in the clothing of female villagers in Sinthian, Senegal. During my month-long residency at Thread, I was surrounded by saturated colors and geometric patterns. Chipboard is a material used to protect paper in sketchbooks and drawing pads. The use of chipboard in my work signifies a system of support and protection.
