I think of the spaces between stones, the seams in fabric construction, and how the building of stone walls relates to quilting. Both practices make single pieces fit together to assemble a solid whole. I think of the labor and the communal aspect of each craft. Both leave us with a beautiful end product and are historically created by marginalized people.
